Community Council News from April 2008 Meeting

Annual General Meeting – Chairman’s report summarising Council’s activities for the year. Treasurer’s report on Income and Expenditure Account for period to 31 March 2008.

Plans for Melrose Grammar School – presentation on extension – comments given.

Annay Road pavement – noted partial completion of pavement with further distance to be completed when funding available.

Melrosian Appointment 2 May 2008 – appointment night noted on Friday 2 May 2008 in Corn Exchange.

Parking – Scottish Borders Council is now progressing with proposals to use the Rugby Club as a public car park and detailed discussions are taking place with the Rugby Club about this. A site visit to look at the Nutwood Car park to see if further works can take place in this location is underway.

Traffic Order – a traffic order for the town centre area is underway. The key changes include amendment to times and days that parking restrictions are in force; loading bays and disabled parking.

Melrose Spring Clean – planned for week commencing 28 April.
