Eildon Singers

The choir, founded in 1979, currently has 65 members, drawing people from throughout the Central Borders. A friendly group, we meet for rehearsals on Wednesday evenings, from September till May (7.30 - 9.30pm), in Newtown Community Wing.

We usually prepare two major concerts in December and May in local venues. In May we sang Carl Orff's Carmina Burana in Melrose Parish Church and in the Victoria Hall, Selkirk with some very talented soloists.

Rehearsals are currently under way for the Christmas concert, where we will be singing 'Night of Miracles' and carols, some with audience participation. The Concerts will take place in Selkirk Parish Church on December 2, and in Melrose Parish Church on December 9 at 7.30 pm.

We will then be presenting a shorter concert of European Sacred Music on February 3 in Melrose Parish Church.

On May 10 we will be joining with other choirs to sing the Verdi Requiem in Springwood Hall, Kelso.

Our Musical Director is Catherine Fish, and our rehearsal accompanist, Joyce Wright.

New voices are most welcome, particularly tenors and basses. If you enjoy singing please come and join us.

Our Secretary is Louise Stevens (01896 758167).
