Crowning of the Queen

Melrose Abbey provided the spectacular backdrop for the main ceremonies of Festival Week. Melrosian Brynmor Thom was officially appointed and Queen Alexandra crowned. Ex-Provost George Miller delivered the oration with his wife Margaret crowning the Queen. Charles Robson received his Ex-Melrosians rosette, Rob Moffat his Silver Jubilee medal and Queen of 50 years ago Rosemary Simpson received her badge. The ceremonies ended with a tour of the town in open top cars.
