Melrose Festival Crowning and Installation 2007The Main Ceremonies of Melrose Festival were held in warm sunshine although there were one or two clues of what was to come. Melrosian Iain Oliver was duly installed and Queen Erin crowned by Mrs Moore. Jubilee Melrosians Grant Roden and Donald Campbell were acknowledged, as were Festival Queens Mhorag McKenzie and Jennifer Seidler of 25 and 50 years ago respectively. Principal guest The Reverand Haisley Moore delivered an extremely well prepared and entertaining oration to the ever nearing sound of rumbling thunder and the blue sky turning a shade of slate gray and darkening by the minute. The ceremonies had just been concluded when the heavens opened seeing the large crowd rushing for cover and the platform party seek shelter within the Abbey. By this time it was finished, and although the procession through the town had to be curtailed it was considered that the Queens Tea Party and Melrosians Dinner fittingly brought the evening to a successful close.
