Melrose - New Year 2009
Sound of The Abbey Bell heralds 2009 in Melrose
Young and not so young, a crowd of 1200 - 1500 towns folk and visitors welcomed in the New Year at the Market Square in Melrose. Ably deputising for Community Council Chairman William Windram, Councillor Val Miller welcomed all to the gathering, inviting them to take part in Auld Lang Syne followed by several Scottish Country Dances. Melrose Pipes and Drums entertained the crowd whilst the popular fireworks display (thanks to Keith at The Ship Inn) was as spectacular as ever.
