Would you like world class pipes and drums for our town? If so we need your help now!

We held our very first meeting on 20th April 2000 courtesy of St. Mary’s School, Melrose when approximately 20 attended.

Since then we have met weekly, with a steady flow of young, and not so young people, coming along to join us in an atmosphere of enthusiasm, dedication to get our embryo Pipes and Drums up and running.

After short spells at St. Mary’s School, The Melrose Old Town Hall, The Smith Memorial Hall in Darnick and Melrose Grammar Primary School, our Pipes and Drums have finally found a home at the Corn Exchange and Ormiston Institute, Melrose.

We meet weekly on a Friday evening, where you will hear the quieter tones of practice chanters and drum pads from 6.30pm until 8.30pm, thereafter the skirl of the pipes and beating of the drums can be heard until 9.30pm.

The Pipes and Drums first public performance was at our "Introduction to the Melrose & District Community Ceilidh", which was held on Friday 10th November 2000 at The Corn Exchange and Ormiston Institute, Melrose. The evening was deemed a great success by all who attended, with the big question being "When’s our next ceilidh?"

We would like to thank all members of the community that attended our "Introduction" evening, for their support and hope for their continued assistance in the future.
