The Irish Wolfhounds became the first guest side to be eliminated from the 1999 Melrose Sevens tournament, as they went down 24-19 to Watsonians.

Posessing 5 professionals, Watsonians scored through John Kerr(2), Graham Burns and Marcus DiRollo.
Tries from Nicky Assatand and Derek Hegarty failed to save the Irish Wolfhounds from elimination.
