Melrose Town Trail
Abbey House
The start of the Melrose Town Trail is at the Tourist Information Centre (open until the end of October), located in Abbey House which dates from the late 18th century. Typically Scottish in its simplicity of detailing, the doorway is emphasised by a pilastered entrance and appears to be more grand than it actually is. The building has been extended to the west but since the style is the same, the visual effect is negligible. Behind Abbey House are the Abbey Gardens, which are open to the public. Turn left and walk towards the River Tweed and take the next road on your left to enter Harmony.
