Walking in Melrose
The aim of the town trail is to welcome the visitor to Melrose and provide an added dimension of local history and a flavour of the town's development through time.
From 7th to 14th September Melrose hosts the 2002 Scottish Borders Festival of Walking.
Walks covering the Eildon Hills, St Cuthbert’s
Way and the Southern Upland Way are feautured during the
Festival and historic sites such as the magnificent ruin of
Melrose Abbey, the site of Trimontium and the former home of
Sir Walter Scott - Abbotsford House can all be visited en route.
