About the walk
The walk passes the Rhymerís Stone (see Walk 2) and takes the path along the Red Rig to Broomhill Farm, the site of the railway junction of the Waverley Line with the St Boswells to Reston Line through Berwickshire. The return track to Newstead passes through the main area of Trimontium Roman Site but there is little to see on the ground.The route goes down Eddy Road to follow the Tweed and the flood protection Battery Dyke back to Melrose.
