About the walk
This walk takes in a short stretch of St Cuthbert’s Way, woodland and riverside walking and some minor roads. Highlights include a lunch stop at the newly restored Temple of Muses, the statue of William Wallace in the woods near Dryburgh, culminating in the incomparable Scott’s View (Bemersyde Hill ) with the site of Old Melrose in the foreground. The route returns to Melrose via Newstead, using the old road bridge over the Tweed at Leaderfoot.
