Distance: 16km/10 miles circular
Start: Bus from Market Place Melrose at 09.15. Walk starts St Boswells Bus Station 09.45
Finish: St. Boswells, 15.45 approx. Return bus to Melrose, 16.00.
Grade: moderate. Packed lunch required.

About the walk
The walk starts beside the Tweed, crossing by Dryburgh footbridge to see the newly restored Temple of the Muses. The route then passes the entrances to Dryburgh Abbey and Hotel before continuing by the river to cross Mertoun Bridge and continue downstream past Maxton Church to the suspension bridge in front of Mertoun House, home to the Duke of Sutherland. Time will be allowed here to have lunch and view the gardens (small charge required). Return is by Mertoun Church, Broomhall and the river bank again to St.Boswells.
